Purusharth Amrut

2nd year Master student

University Program in Materials Science & Engineering

Purusharth joined the Mitzi lab in October 2023. Before coming to Duke, he obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science and Physics respectively from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani where he worked on optimizing the performance of electrolytes for solid-state Sodium-based batteries and supercapacitors. He carried out his thesis under the supervision of Dr. Shravan Hanasoge at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai where he worked on modelling inertial waves in the Sun’s interior. His current work at the Mitzi lab focuses on studying the factors affecting structural and energetic distortions of hybrid organic inorganic Perovskites (HOIPs). He is also researching the scope of HOIPs in exhibiting macroscopic quantum phenomena by sustaining exciton polaritons in their lattice.
